Neat idea, the Easy Hotel. That's neat in the sense my tailor uses the term, as a synonym for snug, by which he means you can just about fit into it, but don't go making any wild gestures or it will quickly become embarrassing.
Designing for the Easy Hotel room is harder than the name suggests.
LED is a particularly pleasing technology for this application. It's controllable, gentle and diffuse light is perfectly suited.
The other great advantage is that LED is low energy and therefore cool to the touch. This small fact alone makes it the only option when the thing is no more than two inches from your head.
Low energy and low heat also means that the light box can readily be adapted to contain other heat sensitive items like the room switches and the security card reader.
The result is a perfectly space-age combination of room controls in a light touch unit. Ideally suited to a space capsule, which is where it lives.
