Many of the projects have presented interesting challenges due to site conditions or access, but the team's technical expertise and craftsmanship has consistently produced high quality and durable artworks which are now a source of pride for the communities they serve."
Concept
Dallas-Pierce-Quintero aimed to transform what was a nondescript place for passing through, into a welcoming and friendly environment, encouraging visitors to stay longer and return again, the positioning of the letters and inground wayfinding would help to support intuitive wayfinding, directing visitors to the town centre and encouraging walking and cycling over less sustainable modes of transport.
Realising the Architectural Vision
NES collaborated closely with the architectural team to ensure the concept was brought to life exactly as envisioned, using sustainable materials and processes, bespoke galvanised and powder-coated solid steel box section frameworks were constructed, complemented by rolled and welded steel cladding to deliver both aesthetic and structural integrity, perforations in the design allowed for the integration of bespoke LED lighting, while engraved Iroko timber slats were installed to provide both comfortable seating and a refined, high-quality finish.
Bringing the Structure to Life On Site:
NES fully assembled the individual structures using bespoke lifting rigs and a detailed lifting plan to ensure precision and safety throughout the process. The completed structures were then transported to site via Hi-Ab loader, allowing for direct installation onto pre-cast concrete slabs, ensuring exact alignment, correct angles and the consistent level requirements were achieved across the entire site. The project stands as a successful realisation of the architectural intent, achieved through the seamless integration of design vision, material integrity and precision fabrication. NES’s collaborative approach ensured that every element, from structural framework to surface detailing aligned with the architect’s concept and performance requirements, resulting in a refined installation that harmonises form and function, demonstrating how considered engineering and craftsmanship can elevate architectural design.
